Restore the Plumpton Pitstop - the gateway to the Parish

Restore the Plumpton Pitstop - the gateway to the Parish

The Pit Stop was owned by Lawrence Bridgman who died in 2006. With no family to look after it this cute little building and petrol forecourt has fallen into disrepair. It's location at the south end of Plumpton Lane means it is the first thing visitors see when visiting Plumpton so it is not a good advert for our lovely village. Over the years it has been vandalised and the forecourt is now an eyesore for everyone passing by.

Points

If it could be turned into something like a tearoom it would make Plumpton feel like a nice place to visit - welcoming and as though it cared. The current eyesore gives a bad image to the village

Plumpton Pit Stop could be made to be an attractive entrance to Plumpton, by tidying it up and planting trees and beautiful planters, like Plumpton Station. At the moment it is a disgrace. It is a very dangerous corner, with a fatal accident waiting to happen, so I do not think a tea room is a good idea, with no parking available and the Half Moon may not be happy to lose trade.

I agree needs sorting

No point in investing money in a project where the ownership of the land cannot be established

Despite efforts by various neighbours and our MP, no organisation is willing or able to bring the Pit Stop into good repair. It probably needs a reroof, some new windows and decorating to restore it to its former glory. Once it has been restored, visitors to the National Park and the Parish will realise that we care for our community when walk or drive past this little piece of our history.

Been clearing away the debris left after our fence collapsed - just found a grit bin under it all. The pub has got planning permission for change of use but the conditions proved too restrictive - they'd have to dig up the concrete-filled tanks and cleanse the surrounding soil - £30k maybe? And there's a £60k charge (loan) to Pace Petroleum on it which also restricts its future use. So please vote UP sp we can make it look better!
