Lobby our MP, Ilkley Town and Bradford MDC to ensure that all new buildings are considered against very high energy efficiency standards, such as Passivhaus. Specify quotas for affordable, sustainable housing.
The options for our Councils to prevent low energy efficiency housing are really limited by government policy - particularly the Deregulation Bill 2015, which largely prevents Councils from enforcing a standard above Sustainable Buildings Code 4 - so lobbying Councils to enforce higher than that is going to be largely fruitless until Central Government policy catches up. Lobby Central Government on this, for either much higher national standards or more local flexibility.
