Introduce more participatory democracy through citizen participation in local, national and supranational governments. The information age has given people unparalleled access to information and our democratic systems need upgrading in response. Implement methods like crowd-sourcing policy, participatory budgeting and citizen assemblies. 💖 🙏
A 100 years ago, when many people visited polling stations on horses, it made sense to elect a policy path through a representatives every 4-5 years but today this method is outdated and inefficient. Electing representatives on those timescales can work but only if it is supplemented with direct citizen participation giving people many changes to participate in relations to issues they care about.
